Education officials in El Dorado, Arkansas, are celebrating a new solar energy system that could save the community up to $3 million over the lifetime of the project.
El Dorado School District (ESD) School Board and faculty members gathered to “Flip the Switch” on a newly constructed 1.75 MWac solar array in the community. The project will offset 88% of the district’s energy usage and expenses, saving ESD more than $128,000 annually in energy costs.
ESD entered into a Solar Services Agreement (SSA) with Entegrity, an energy efficiency and solar company headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. With an SSA in place, the district creates savings by purchasing renewable energy from Entegrity at a fixed price that is lower than their current electricity rate.
“We are extremely excited to see this project come to life,” said Jim Tucker, superintendent of El Dorado School District. “Thanks to the school board’s support, this project will bring our schools significant cost savings over its lifetime and allow us to divert funds to support our students and their learning environment.”
In addition to cost savings and offsetting carbon emissions, ESD and its students will gain firsthand experience with the rapidly growing renewable energy industry, learning how solar energy positively impacts their everyday lives.
Entegrity is an energy services, sustainability and solar development company. The company’s comprehensive service package includes energy savings performance contracting, commissioning, energy modeling, building testing, lighting solutions, renewable energy, water conservation and sustainability consulting.
